A passionate fun diver who runs a YouTube channel in Japan recently explored the beautiful waters of Seogwipo, Jeju Island, through DIVEMAP. We are thrilled to share their vivid diving experience, as they were completely captivated by a unique charm that sets Jeju apart from Okinawa and Izu.
Right after entry, we checked our gear together at the surface and exchanged OK signs. Although it was their first time in the Jeju sea, they showed no signs of nervousness and followed the guide flawlessly, just like the seasoned veteran they are. As soon as we descended, their eyes widened at the sight of a vibrant, flourishing colony of red soft corals! While soft corals can also be found in Japan, they couldn't hide their amazement, noting that Jeju's corals are on a whole different level in terms of scale and density.
In particular, the sight of countless damselfish and schools of small fish shimmering in silver above the soft corals was nothing short of spectacular. The diver couldn't take their eyes off this beautiful choreography, capturing it continuously on video, and remarked on how incredibly full of life the Jeju sea is.
Another defining charm of Jeju's waters has to be the unique topography characteristic of a volcanic island. Turning on the torch to peek into the dark rock crevices brings a thrill of excitement, much like opening a series of gift boxes.
